To facilitate the application, the transfer gold leaf is pressed against a thin tissue paper wider than the leaf.
The transfer leaf is easier to handle and this reason it is often preferred by beginners.
Another advantage is given by the fact that where there are currents of air the transfer leaf will not fly away.
The transfer gold leaf is suitable for the water size gilding only and not for water gilding and therefore can not be burnished.
As a result of the embossing left by the pressure of the tissue paper, the transfer leaf does not allow to obtain a perfect brilliance.
The gold leaf does not require protection because it is not subject to oxidation.
