Fabric colours are part of the IDEA line which includes a number of colours and items for hobby manufactured by Maimeri.
The kinds of fabric colours available are the following:
• Transparent colours. Used on clear fabrics. Composed of 15 bright and vivid colours plus a transparent medium. The medium makes the colours softer and more transparent without altering their sticking power.
• Covering colours. Used on dark fabrics. Composed of 15 colours which are not as bright as transparent colours. Suitable especially for stencils on fabrics.

Fabric colours can be diluted with water. If using too much water, colours can loose their sticking and tingent power.
All natural fabrics are suitable for decorations made with fabric colours. Instead, not all synthetic fabrics (like nylon and the like, for example) are suitable to be decorated with these colours because of their limited receptivity to colours.

Instructions.
• The brush to be used depends on the kind of fabric, on the decoration to make and even on personal preference. When colouring fabbrics, anyway, it is always better to use brushes of good quality which do not loose their bristles.
• Colours are ready for use. Therefore it is possible to dip the brush directly in the bottles of colour. Covering colours are very sticky and it might be useful to add just a few drops of water.
• Avoid thick paintings because a thick coat applied on fabric is more fragile than a thin coat. Also avoid superimposing colours because the second coat of colour can not stick very well on the fibres of the fabric.
• If painting a new cloth it is better to wash it first because usually new clothes come with a dressing that stops colours from penetrating into the fibres.
• When painting first fix the tissue on a work-table or on a loom. Note that the colour can go through the tissue and stain what is underneath it. You can avoid the problem by placing cardboard under the tissue. For example, when painting a T-shirt it is possible to place cardboard inside it in order to isolate the front and back sides of the T-shirt.
• After the colours have been applied wait for about 24 hours before fixing them by ironing the back of the tissue. The iron must be quite hot and has to be kept on the tissue for at least 3 minutes in order for the resins of the colours to stick to the fibres. In the end place a breadth of cloth on top of the decoration in order to iron it (do not iron the decoration directly).
• It is better to wash the painted tissues by hand. In case you are usuing a washing-machine employ only the washing programs for delicate tissues and do not go over 40° C temperature.

All fabric colours are available in 60 ml bottles equipped with a dosage cap.
