First kiss Bouguereau - William-Adolphe Bouguereau was born in 1825 in La Rochelle, France, and died at the age of 80. Despite the disapproval of his family, in 1845 he started studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where, more than 40 years later, he was teaching as a professor himself. His sensuous nudes, aesthetic paintings of country girls and his paintings of the Virgin Mary soon made Bouguereau the most famous French salon-painter. The center of his works was always beauty in its perfection. Unlike his contemporaries, the artist stuck to the tradition of Renaissance and Classicism and completely dedicated himself to the idealization of his subjects.
